Kamelot

Biografia de la banda:

KAMELOT se forma en Tampa, Florida (USA) en 1991, bajo el liderazgo de Thom Youngblood (guitarra) y Richard Warner (batería). Thom y Richard empiezan a componer y a grabar maquetas en un 16 pistas, lo que les serviría de ayuda para poner en claro sus ideas y para completar la formación de la banda. Tras un sin número de pruebas, Mark Vanderbilt (voz) y Glenn Barry (bajo) se unen al grupo.

La increíble capacidad vocal de Mark junto con la pericia de Glenn, hicieron fácil el tomar esta decisión. KAMELOT, con la formación prácticamente completada, emplearon los dos años siguientes en la composición de nuevos temas, al tiempo que creaban una imagen intrigante del grupo.

En el invierno de 1993, David Pavlicko se une a KAMELOT como teclista, proporcionando al grupo un enriquecimiento sonoro, así como un bagaje de melodías del viejo mundo. Las influencias de KAMELOT abarcan desde el metal europeo hasta el jazz clásico.

Tras la salida de "Eternity", su celebrado álbum de debut, en otoño de 1995, KAMELOT son aclamados como una de las más firmes promesas del ´95. No pasaría mucho tiempo hasta la salida de su segundo, titulado "Dominion", un álbum que muestra el crecimiento y la madurez del grupo. En esta obra maestra nos encontramos con un Power Metal impecable con matices progresivos y un toque épico-místico. Riffs variados y melódicos, tiempos medios y arreglos orquestales de teclado , junto con la inconfundible voz de Mark Vanderbilt, son los ingredientes de "Dominion", que fue grabado en los famosos Morrisound Studios de Florida bajo la producción de Jim Morris. 1998 es un año de grandes cambios. Tras el éxito de "Dominion" se presenta la oportunidad de hacer una gran gira de presentación, pero ni Richard ni Mark podían salir de gira.

Lo primero fue buscar un nuevo batería, y bastó con una sola prueba para dar con Casey Grillo, el candidato ideal. El fichaje de un nuevo vocalista no resultó tan fácil, pues después de escuchar entre 75 y 100 cintas, nadie cumplía los requisitos. En aquél momento, Thom se encontraba dando forma en el estudio al que sería el tercer trabajo de KAMELOT y casi todas las bases estaban completas, pero aún no había cantante. Thom quería contar con el famoso Tommy Newton para mezclar el álbum y a través de Tommy se enteró de que el grupo Conception (de cuyo cantante Roy Khan siempre había sido un fan acérrimo) se habían disuelto hacía poco. Tres semanas después, Roy viajaba hacia Tampa para grabar las voces del nuevo disco. La química fue perfecta y "Siege Perilous" el resultado.
